I recently cancelled my comcast cable service, which meant that the internet high speed would be 10 percent more expensive (they did not tell me that) I Figured that out after I got the bill. I use a LOT the internet, for class and stuff, and hate when it gets slow. But because Comcast is charging me from 65 to 75 dollars a month I want to get out of there. So, according to previous experiences, which high speed internet provider do you recommend?? (having quality, speed and of course, costs in mind) what would you go for?
thanks!

I already checked with other companies, incuding Yahoo, but the only that I have availiable are verizon, comcast and earthlink. I;ve had dsl before and it is not fast enough for me, I ended up kicking my laptop away (sorry, bad temper sometimes). I live in Salem, MA...don't know where eathlink central is though

DSL hast he cheapest price. However their internet sometimes isn't reliable. Comcast has extremely good internet speed, but they charge too much. Try to find out other high speed internet providers in your area. Those are the only "popular" ones. Earthlink, I can not speak of, because I don't have any experience with them. Sorry.

I had Earthlink prior to Comcast the box I was given was always going down and I had to end up using dial up while waiting for them to send a rep out and the problem would still never get fixed I would have to wait till another box came in the mail then wait for a rep to come out and hook me up again I had them for almost a year they let me out of the contract as I had dial up bills that they agreed to pay till the time came and couldn't get them to pay for it. I switched to Comcast and have been with them for a year now and my Internet went down 3 times and all I did was call them and they sent a signal right then and there and I was up and running the longest I was every without service was for an hour when they came to run new lines at the pole so it wouldn't keep interrupting my service the signal would get lost that's why I would loose service it has been 6 months now and I have never gone down again... So the extra money is worth it all other services offer things but are not as responsive and quick as comcast in my opinion...
I wish you luck with your decision but what ever you do try to stay away from Earthlink at all cost they are cheaper then everyone else but like the saying says you get what you pay for... LOL
Good Luck !!

I have comcast (apartment) and Cox cable (house), comcast is overpriced, verizon is not available here just embarq. the higher fee is part of bundling discount. with DSL you have to look at what are the fee's involved with a contract.

cox is 24 a month for 256k
comcast is 45 for 6meg cable line (with TV)

check with your local cable company to see if they have internet. its a lot faster than dsl. and like i have charter cable internet and its around 30 dollars a month. i have a 3 mb connection but for more $$ you can get 5mb and 7mb connections. extremely fast connection. especially for downloading.

check which company is the nearest to you amd the cost for it too.

the more the central the company is, the faster it will travel.
