Have you tried asking him about it? I am sure that if he moved half way around the world and left everything then he had a very good reason. My husband is the same, he left his family (mother and brothers and sister) far away and has made a new life in America and now we have our children and have made our own family. Its human nature that when we grow up, we see things as they are and pursue our own goals and interests.

If you really want to know that side of the family them look for them, it can't hurt anything.

Yes, you should definitely find them. Everyone has a right to know about their roots.
