Leemyster ~

Baz and Blogbaba hit the nail right on the head with their selections the fighters they mentioned are truly in a class by themselves. I'd like to add one more to their impressive selections Humberto "Chiquita" Gonzales only 5'1 and 106 pounds of pure fire 43 wins 3 loses with 31 ko's The shortest fighter ever to hold a World Championship is "Baby" Jake Matala 4'10.

Thanks for the question Leemyster.

Currently, there are more famous short sluggers than there are big sluggers. Boxing has focused its attention in the lower weight classes looking for better entertainment value and better competition. The heavyweights are terrible right now. There are some talented big men, but they won't even agree to fight one another. The result, 4 different paper champions. In the lower weight classes, you see the little men stepping up to another weight class to fight the champion of the other weight class.
I'd surely favor the little sluggers because they have better competition. In the heavyweight division, you see champions taking on the likes of Peter Okhello. If there is a big event, it happens seldomly.

Baby Jake Matlala was a famous short slugger he stood just under 5ft, but was a good fighter winning WBO titles at light flyweight and flyweight. He was one of the most well known fighters at those weights, his best victory was probably beating Micheal Carbajal in a bit of an upset a few years back.

"Chiquita" Gonzalez. A great one. Could box righty or southpaw.

addition --- Jimmy Wilde the great flyweight many many years gone by was quite a banger in his own right.
