You need to change your diet. Infrequent bowel movements are due to a poor diet.
I make a smoothie twice a day with tons of fresh vegetables and fruits with my $200 juice extractor and blender and my health has never been better. I don't even get colds any more. I NEVER have any problem defacating. As a matter of fact I have 2 or 3 bowel movements per day, each being 12 to 24 feet in length.
I can understand a person not liking to eat vegetables. You don't have to eat them, drink them instead :) You must get fiber in your diet and consume vegetables and fruits, and drink plenty of water. It's essential.
You might think grabbing a can of or bottle of V8 juice is the same thing. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Exercise helps too
I welcome email and instant messages.

Please drink at least 8 - 8 oz gflasses or 4 - 16 oz bottles of water every day. And, eat fiber-popcorn, wheat bread, 12 grain breads, things that have good fiber in them. That will help with the constipation. Also, orange juice, or, better yet, eating fresh fruits and veggies-oranges, apples, celery, carrots, cucumbers etc. Salads are really important as well. In fact, if you can please eat either an apple, or a salad each day possible. Plus your fiber. Raisin Bran cereal is good source of fiber too. Bran muffins are good too. My dad used to tell us "you need a bit of roughage every day", In our home, it was salads, and other veggies. How right he was. Take care.

As the other posters pointed out, you need to keep hydrated. Drink lots of water. Eight 8 oz. glasses a day is the standard recommendation. Also, you might increase your roughage. Roughage is fibrous food that isn't digested so it passes through. Oatmeal, adding oat bran to applesauce or a bowl of oatmeal, coleslaw, beans, and raw fruit like apples and oranges will give you more fiber. There are also products that you stir into water or juice and give you more fiber.

It's recommended for women to consume at least 25 grams of fiber per day. Up your fruits and veggies (especially the ones high in fiber). Eat a bowl of Fiber one cereal. That will make a terd for sure.......just don't put bananas in it. Also stop eating cheese.

drink plenty of water. Don't take too many laxatives or eat things that would give you diarreha b/c then you might get dehydrated. Go to your doctor. that is abnormal to go every 4-5 days.

is this normal for you? make sure that you're adequately hydrated. fiber is good, raw veggies too. you may need to see a GI doc to make sure it isn't anything more serious (if this is relatively new).
