Personally, I'm not religious, but I think religion is such an interesting cultural reality. However, when I come to this section all I every find are Christians slagging on atheist and vice versa. There's a lot of meaness and pettiness going on that doesn't need to be here and destroys the spirit of the Yahoo Answers. Does anyone else agree?

Cordell-- I guess you could look at it as an insult, although it wasn't meant that way. I'm talking about the people who outright call each other stupid or resort to petty insults. I'm also talking about the people who phrase questions in such a way to irritate people. I thought it would be better if this section could be used as a meeting place for an equal exchange of ideas, not insults.

Thank you! I am a person of faith. I enjoy coming on here to see if there are any questions that I can help people with. I try to do this with humility and respect and it never fails that somebody that doesn't believe the same way that I do always needs to bash me or the questioner. It simply isn't respectful. Whether you have a faith or not, you still need to have respect and compassion for others.

Welcome to earth. It's full of angry bitter people. Some of us find peace within ourselves and don't bother with petty arguments. Some thrive off of anger and love a good fight. It's wasted energy, it puts unnecessary stress on the body, and it's very degenerative to one's self progress. At least here, you can pretty much post once per topic. Imagine if you could post more than once per question. These rediculous arguments could get long and nasty and only spew more anger and hate. I've learned over the years that sometimes making your point until someone agrees with you is foolish. Sometimes you just need to walk away. Separate yourself from the negativity if necessary. I've had to do that just recently (in the real world) and boy did I feel a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.

I come here to engage in conversation with people who have misconceptions about atheism, and also with people who do not realize the danger of letting the U.S. continue its trend towards becoming a Christian theocracy.
I do wish the conversation between Christians and atheists would stay civil, but I have to admit that I occasionally lose my patience and respond in kind to a rudely worded question.

I have never slagged on an Atheist that is willing to respect my beliefs. However, if someone says something that I find to be incorrect I will tell them. I believe that everyone deserves freedom of speech and the right to believe whatever they want to but the biased attitudes of Atheists and even fellow Christians really gets to me sometimes.

I agree that it does go to far half the times. And sometimes I just leave R&S when every question becomes one sticking the other. But I expect it about a third of the times.

I'm not. It is the only interesting questions in that section. Everything else is just a simple look it up in the Bible/Quaran/Whatever kinda question

If you are tired of the christian verses Atheist conflict, get out, don't come here.
I find it strange, that you have 577 points, and are on level 4 with 23 percent best answers. I have 6023 points and am on level 5. Who are you to give us lectures? Maybe christians and athiests enjoy a bit of fisty cuffs. If u are not religious, *** off then.

I have to admit, I'm a very confused person spiritualy.
So I ask questions from time to time to see what people have to say to help me decide if what they say rings true for me, or is worth exploring....
but YEAH - lots of folks go on superiority trips.

I agree. Let people believe what they do. If they ask, give them your opinion in a civilized manner.
