I know some married couples (no kids) who NEVER air travel together... the reason being "in case something bad happen, then it won't happen with the 2 of us, at the same time...
I just can't understand this... I mean, if something happen, it happen, right? whether you are alone or together?... and don't you think it's better to die together anyway, so it's done, finito (unless kids involved, of course)... is it because of financial reason? (heritage, properties, etc)... please anyone help me to understand...

I don't think there is anything to understand, especially if there aren't children involved. The odds of dying in a plane crash are over 5,000 to 1, the odds of dying in a car crash are about 80 to 1, the odds of pedestrian dying are about 588 to 1. So it makes absolutely no sense to fly separately. Do they also drive separately or don't walk down the street together? That would make much more sense. The people that you are talking about are just plain ignorant of the facts or have a paranoid fear of flying. Bad things can happen at any time, but to focus on airline safetly is ridiculous, perhaps you could ask your friends to explain their thinking, I certainly don't understand it.

I suspect that their reasoning is for their children. If one parent should die in an accident, at least one parent would be left to take care of their children, as opposed to depriving their children of both parents at once. As to why it's done by couples with no children, it could be any of the things you mentioned, but you'd have to ask them.
