I have a triple major in the sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Earth/Space) and have been teacher for the past 18 years.
I showed this documentary to my students two weeks ago. I find the science to be solid and unbiased. Regardless of what anyone thinks of Al Gore, Al Gore did NOT create the science . . . he is just the messenger. Let's not kill the messenger just because we do not like his politics. There is an "urban legend" going around that Al Gore spends $3000 per month for electricity for his home and that he is not one to speak on this topic. Sorry, but I applaud ANYONE willing to stick his neck out and speak to this subject. It is real . . . very real!
Yes, it is scary . . . and it should be! Humans are the only living things that have ever walked this earth, swam in its seas, or flown in its atmosphere, that has the ability to change their own environment. We have really done a number on ourselves and every living thing on this planet. Our greed for "stuff" and "money" is now coming home to roost. It is not too late to do something about this problem but it will take the concerted efforts of everyone around the globe to reverse the trends that you saw.
Have you EVER known, or heard, of EVERYONE ever agreeing on anything, much less working towards one common goal????
To me, THAT IS THE SCARIEST THOUGHT OF ALL . . . . . BECAUSE THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION IS A RESOUNDING "NO'"!

It's basic message is correct.
But it's at the high end of most scientists estimates of the speed and extent of global warming. A "reasonable worst case" analysis. Some scientists have complained that Gore goes farther than is proven by the data in some places.
The following report is a more conservative analysis, backed by solid data, and agreed to as completely correct by the majority of scientists.

And here is a very solid website:

The movie is valuable for raising awareness and basically right, but it is a little overdramatic.
Example. If we don't take serious action, Florida will see serious coastal flooding, costing many billions of dollars. But half the State is unlikely to disappear in the next 50 years.
Compared to the wildly inaccurate "Swindle" movie, Gore's is pure truth.

I watched it a few nights ago and I was in awe!
It is amazing how something as big as that is so 'underground'.
sure the stats may have been 'rigged' but the PICTURES of the different places showing the damage were difficult to refute.
p.s. Seems like poster number one is a 'hair spray girl'.....something this serious and the first reply is a joke!
YOu dont have to guess why your great great grand children wont have an earth as we currently know it!

i think he did the earth a favor. People need to know about what is really going on. If we keep increasing our desturctive rate at the speed we're going at right now, the earth will last 100 years max. We need more productions like this to help people continue our existance.

Well they are real, and they have all been confirmed. Even Bush and the Pentagon have both finally admitted that its' a global problem. It shouldn't have taken a documentary film by a politician to wake people up, but hey, whatever it takes.

It's real. It ought to be required viewing in every school above - no - including kindergarten.
Even Bush has come-around on the subject of global warming. (Kicking and screaming, no doubt, but around.)

It's very bad science.
The global warming we are experiencing now is not being caused by CO2 emissions or anything else people have been doing. It also is not unprecedented. It has been this warm as recently as 400 years ago and it is certain that that was not caused by humans either.
The global warming scientists are jumping to conclusions and it is going to make them look as silly as the global cooling crowd from the '70s looks now.
