Hi,

I have been having head-related problems that started over the summer. In January, I had an MRI/MRA done which tested for brain tumors as well as aneurysms. The MRI/MRA came back negative on the brain tumor/aneurysm accounts but it did find a bit of a synus build-up. The doctor gave me some sinus medication. About two months later, I hit the back of my head hard on a metal bar. It was painful at first but then the pain went away. However, a few days later, I got a mirgraine-type headache. I don't know if this was due to the hit or the stress from studying for exams. Then two days later I got another minor episode of a migraine-type headache (I had slight hallucinations prior to getting the pain). Now I fear that the hit might have done more damage than I thought.

My question: Does that sound like it could be an aneurysm or am I being paranoid?

Thanks!

Your not being paranoid... but you are showing signs that need to be evaluated by a doctor. Not for an aneurysm, but for other issues. The hit on the head could of done more damage then you thought and you should be evaluated by a doctor. The "aura", or hallucinations you had before the last headache is common in migraines, but it is also common in impending seizures as well. You should make an apt. with your doctor and while your waiting keep a journal document where it hurts, what time, if you had an "aura" before it started and how long it lasted. I would lay off caffeine and try to get to bed earlier ( I know it is impossible sounding to a college student) but just do your best. Take that journal to the doctor at your next visit. Also if for any reason you cannot deal with the pain and it is the worst pain in your life go to the ER immediately! Don't take chances with your head. I wish you luck!

trauma doesn't cause aneurysms, so it's unlikely that it caused one. trauma can cause them to rupture, but if you didn't have one then that's probably not the problem. with the trauma you could have still gotten a concusion, plus or minus a bleed in the brain. so it's not an aneurysm, but if you still have syptoms i'd probably see the doc again.
