i still have an email saved from a friend that has been circulating throughout the country for the past couple years. us troops in iraq asked starbucks if they would mind sending some coffee to them so they could feel at home. starbucks responded by saying that they will not send them coffee, because they do not support the war, therefore they will not support the troops by sending their products to them. now i do not drink coffee, but i was extremely embarassed for the troops sake, so i will never support starbucks as long as they feel that way. what do you all think?

i don't really care about starbuck's stance on the war. i don't like their coffee anyway. it tastes like crap, it's fattening, and it's a ripoff. don't boycott all coffee; if you really want to hurt starbucks, go to their competition. that's what i did when i was boycotting heinz ketchup cuz of john kerry.....

The biggest coffee chain in Canada is Tim Hortons (we do have Starbucks too, but Tims is the most popular). And Tim Hortons actually opened up a store at a Canadian base in Kandahar so that our troops could have a little taste of home.
Starbucks should take some lessons from them.

EDIT: I'm glad someone thought about snopes.com, even if I forgot to. D'oh!
I'm happy to hear it's not true about Starbucks. Cuz really, whether you support the war or not, people need their coffee, man!

I think that's an ugly thing to do. Supporting the war and supporting the troops are two separate things. Even a lot of the troops don't support the war! The troops, on the other hand, are going through a lot to have the job of protecting our country, and they need our support.

This is absolutely false. The store I work at as well as the other stores in my district, region, and surrounding regions all send tons of coffee to troops stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, and multiple other locations around the world. On top of that, our store has set up drives to send even more coffee overseas for one of our regular customers and his company who have been deployed with the Navy twice as well as for one of our own partners who is currently deployed to Iraq with the Army Reserve. I also was formerly in the Army and can say with absolute resolve that this isn't true.

Corporations are normally pretty careful about being "politically correct" and usually won't publicly state something that is so controversial. So, I did some online research and found that the email you describe is not really true...kind of a misunderstanding. I think it's great that you're standing behind a cause that you believe in, but I would just make sure the information you're getting is the truth.

No more Starbuck's coffee for me! I have been telling people not to support them since they won't support the troops. It doesn't matter what your oppinion is on the war..."support our troops...they protect and defend us."

I have seen the same email and I do believe this is true, as my sister is retired Navy and all her Navy buddies had already told her about this. I don't drink coffee but I wouldn't give them my business because of this.

its probably a rumor started by some starbucks haters. people need to get over it. they make good coffee. they're successful thats the only reason people hate and don't support them.
