Stretch marks are very common during pregnancy but they can also occur if you are obese or if you lose weight.
Here are some tips that you can benefit from:
1) Massage daily just after you shower and before you go to bed. This is an excellent home remedy to prevent as well as treat stretch marks. You can massage with olive oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin E oil or codliver oil.
2) Exercise daily to tone your muscles and make your skin firm.
3) Consume a diet rich in vitamins and minerals, especially Vitamin C, Vitamin E and zinc. Proteins promote good tissue growth hence make sure you are getting proteins in your diet. This keeps stretch marks at bay. Consult a dietitian for guidance on foods and supplements if you are not getting the nutrients through your diet.
4) Apply cocoa butter and/or elastin cream on your stretch marks. Follow the instructions on the label when applying. Cocoa butter is effective for keeping skin soft and supple but some women are allergic to it. If you are allergic to cocoa butter, avoid it.
5) Try out this really good recipe:
Blend together these ingredients in a mixie.
½ cup virgin olive oil + ¼ cup aloe vera gel + liquid from 6 capsules of Vitamin E + liquid from 4 capsules of Vitamin A
Pour the mixture into a jar and refrigerate. Apply over stretch marks or places where stretch marks are likely to occur such as hips, thighs, breasts and abdomen.

Try Bio-Oil - I got mine at Target for $11... and it works on uneven skin discoloration, stretch marks and scars. From their web site: "Bio-Oil® is a specialist skincare product that helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone. Its advanced formulation, which contains the breakthrough ingredient PurCellin Oil™, also makes it highly effective for numerous other skin concerns, including aging skin and dehydrated skin." I love it and a little goes a long way - I've used mine every night for over a month and it still looks like I have not used any product...

the best thing is to avoid them in the first place. use cocoa butter lotion. and try not to gain weight too quickly when/if pregnant. nowdays there are alot of fading creams on the market. make sure to use one that is not too harsh.
