Someone I know has end stage liver disease and is still conscious and able to move around in a wheel chair. I was wondering how long she might have.

My son had cirrhosis and at the final stage he was unable to eat most solid foods. He used to eat baby food. His abdomen would also fill with fluid and he would have to go to the hospital to have his abdomen drained. He only weighed 90 lbs. and his skin and the whites of his eyes were yellow. He looked terrible. He was on the liver transplant list and got a liver transplant. He was a very lucky person. He would have died within a month or so if he hadn't gotten the transplant. He has never had any alcohol since. He had to go for therapy while he was waiting for the transplant because most cirrohsis comes from drinking and they will not give an alcoholic a transplant because they think he will drink again. He will be on anti-rejection drugs for the rest of his life. He also has to go for a blood test every month to check his liver function. He is doing just fine so far.
