First check View and see if normal or print layout is chosen, if Book layout is chosen these options are disabled if that doesn't work try this...

They may have changed Edit options go to Tools-Options-Edit tab and make sure all are checked except..."use insert for paste and Insert Mode and Prompt to update style and last but not least Mark Formatting inconsistancies." then in the c.ick and paste is enabled in the Click and Paste area area make sure it's set to Normal. Then click security tab and make sure the password boxes are empty. They probably did it as a joke not very funny is it. Payback, right? Email me for that, I promise not to damage anyone's machine....if that doesn't work try this...

Before doing this or a reinstall... cd key for office if you don't have it go to www.belarc.com and download the free advisor and print out all your cd keys. Then try the following.

Automatically repair Office programs with Detect and Repair.
This doesn't always work.
Caution Choosing the Discard my customized settings and restore default settings option will set the following back to the state they appeared in when you first installed Office such as...
The Assistant character selection
Most-recently-used entries on the File menu will be removed
The size of the application window for all applications
Menu and toolbar position and any customizations
The security level for each application
View settings within the application, such as the Calendar view in Outlook
Your User Name and Initials will also need to be re-entered when you restart your Office applications.

On the Help menu, click Detect and Repair.
To restore the program shortcuts to the Windows Start menu, make sure the Restore my shortcuts while repairing check box is selected.

Click Start.
Notes

This procedure detects and repairs problems such as missing files and registry settings associated with all installed Microsoft Office programs. It will not repair personal files, such as spreadsheets or documents.
If the Detect and Repair command does not fix the problem, you might need to reinstall Microsoft Office.

How long ago did this happen? Would a system restore help? Try going back a week or two when things were working o.k.

Another thought - if you have a legitimate CD - open a Word document - get out your CD - you may need to insert it.

click Help
click "Detect and Repair"

With luck, this fix will work.
