okay so i like he and he likes me back but also likes 5 other girls and i've gotten info. that basically points out that i'm definetly not numero uno. so anyway he cant date anyway, but the 8th grade dance is in a couple of months...should i just give up now or keep on liking him so that i have an almost definite date?

An "almost definite" date? That's a contradiction. It can't be almost and definite date the same time, so deal with that. Find someone else you're wasting your time. Do you want to be second best or first choice? Think about the answer to that question and you'll find out what you need to do.
