... do you consider yourself a biblical literalist? That is to say, do you believe every word of the bible is completely accurate, without hyperbole (I.E. world was literally created in 6 days).

I'm just curious, because from what I've seen, most who are literalists have the type of personality that also causes them to identify completely with one denomination over another (Batptist, Catholic, Lutheran, etc).... while non-denominationals seem more flexible in their beliefs.

Just an informal survey.

No I don't. A lot of the bible does contradict itself, and I leave that open to interpretation. I don't take the Bible literally. Though the created the world in 6 days I do.

However, as I do consider myself a non-denominational believer in Jesus....I do look at those who take every word for literal and really think they need to open up and admit what they know - that the Bible isn't as simple as they make it out to be. As well we need to quit believing the "interpretation" of a human-being to explain to us what in the relationship we have with God - HE CAN. (sorry for the soap box commentary)

It's nice to respond to a question like this!

Thanks!

I guess I would call myself a Biblical literalist, but to a point. I believe in 6 day Creation. I don't think that the statue discussed in Daniel was real, it was allegorical, as was many of Christ's parables. I don't believe in the pre-trib rapture, I don't believe the Tribulation has to be seven years....etc.

I'm non-denominational.

I believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God, that in no way, shape, or form is in wrong.

This however does not debunk that fact that some of the Bible is to be taken literal, while other scripture is to be taken metaphorically.

6 days for creation?
YES, the Bible does state that in it's text ... BUT ...
NOT man's timing, but God's my dear.
A day to God is as a Thousand Years, and a thousand years as to a day.
Thus we must surmise that is could have actually taken 6,000 years to create the world.
NOT that God couldn't do it in 6 of our human calender days, but that He CHOSE to take that long to do it.

To complete something with perfection, one takes their time does he not?
I know I do. Thus I do not question God as to WHY He chooses to do so in many instances, such as healings, and other answers to prayer, etc.

I believe in literal 6 day creation, but I know there are figurative portions of the Bible.

I am non-denominational, but not of the "Unitarian" variety.
