First the "I'm an adult now!" stuff. Register to vote, make a financial will, and a living will. Check your finances, whether you are going to college, or getting a job. Start a financial plan, even if it is just opening a checking account! Make a time line for yourself: in 4 years I will have my bachelor's degee, in 2 years I will have enough money to go to Europe.
Now for the fun stuff. Do something to mark this milestone. You are in California, you do not lack for something to do.
Have a party, I did not say go have a drunken beer blast, though you could do that too.
Do something with the family, have a nice dinner, go somewhere for the weekend. Take some time to see your close friends, this may be your last chance to be together. Take pictures, and label them with names and dates. You will forget who some of them are, and where you were, trust me on this one.
Do something nostalgic. Get a scrapbook, and arrange it as a chronical of your first 18 years. A photo albumn would work. If you are going away to college, or a job, make a photo albumn of your parents, the house, the pets, your friends, so that when you are away, and you get homesick, you can make it worse by looking at your photos! LOL.
Do something you always wanted to do. Hike up a mountain, take surfing lessons, guitar lessons. Take a trip, a long one, or a short one.
You will always remember turning 18. Now go do something cool!

First of all you should register to vote. However, turning 18 doesn't suddenly turn you into an adult. But here are some suggestions. Save money. Set some goals and do your best to stick to them. Treat others well. Look for ways to make your part of the world a better place. Enjoy yourself. Don't abuse drugs or alcohol. Don't be afraid to try new things.

Turn several cartwheels if you can do it without killing yourself! Remember that you can still have fun even if you are an adult. Go out to a fancy restaurant and order something expensive.
