I've decided to go to San Juan for a week this summer with my boyfriend, we'll actually be staying in the condado beach area.

How much money should i bring for food, taxis, souvenirs, etc?

Both the above answers are good.

Like flightpi stated. How much would you spend if you were going some other place for a week, it's going to be about the same.

The price of fast food is about the same. The price of a meal at say Chili's, TGI Fridays, Ruby Tuesday is about the same as the States.

If you go to an upscale restaurant, you will pay the same as one in any major city in the States.

If you want to see the island, then consider renting a car, should you cost you around $40 per day. But, get prices for ALL of the rental cars (online) as I have noticed that they all do not charge the same rate for the same class of car.

For instance if you go to El Yunque by a tour it will cost you around $80-$100 for two people - well that is about 2 days car rental......

If you are coming on vacation, you always end up spending more than you would if you stayed at home.

If you set yourself a daily budget, I am sure that you will find plenty to do here in Puerto Rico that matches that budget.

If you guys plan to stay in the Condado area, then I will recommend you to bring have a flexible budget. Everything is tourist oriented, which unfortunately means expensive. Taxis are very expensive, from Condado to Old San Juan $10-$15 minimum. To the rainforest around $45. If you plan to got to different areas on the island I highly recommend to rent a car. You will save a lot on taxis and it is very easy to drive around PR. Regarding food there is a place for every interest, taste, and budget. You could do well with $300 for food, but you will have to eat at fast foods all the time. There are great restaurants throughout the island, and if you enjoy to eat it would be sad that you deprive yourself. About souvenirs the same thing, you can find some cheap, small souvenirs on Fortaleza street in Old San Juan and also hand crafted arts that will be kind of pricey.

It is hard to give you a round amount with out knowing your interests, a good number for a week for 2 people.. I would say at least a $1,000. And you will be kind of tight, more if you take taxis all the time. Food prices are about the same as in the states, fast food joints, local places (cheaper), upscale restaurants ($$$$)...It would really depend on where do you want to go, how many times you will take a taxi and how far...
Either way you will have a ball! Visit www.gotopuertorico.com for more info.

I don't know your eating habits but my husband and I always plan on $100-$150 a day for those kind of expenses. Some days it's less and some days it's more.

Have a great trip.
