Dear "peter", when you hear the answer you will realize it is not limited to personal ideosyncracies. - My dad discovered this key, and he challenged me by saying, "No matter what you have in life or get in life, you will not be happy until you learn ________?

Dear "mom", You have just given us the key to understanding ourselves.

Dear "JC", yes, but how do you make yourself happy or sad? It simply doesn't work to wake up in the morning and say to yourself "Today I am going to be happy no matter what." - It may work a few times until you realize it has no reference point or foundation for that hopeful outcome.

Dear "sun" - Forgiving others as a born again personality is God's only requirement for Heaven. Being forgiven by Jesus' blood is a sham from Paul, not Jesus.

Dear Chess, Tsk, tsk, that is true too, but if you do a certain thing you will be happy in between the be damneds.

Clue: Commercials brainwash us into not believing in the key or simply not thinking about the key to happiness. (Before commercials people had ho-downs and jubilations.)

Dear "me" - Love is an attraction, and a jillion things to a jillion people. And, I certainly wouldn't want to live without it. However, as you probably know, people, even myself in the past, have done some dastardly things in the name of "love". However, we can study love and discover the key to happiness. Remember when you first fell in love? You were exubriently happy, I imagine you were, I know I was. ..... But, if you can answer Why you were happy at that time, (make a long list), then one of those reasons might be the very "key" to all happiness; regardless of the happy events in your life. - Then by way of bio-feedback you can turn the "key" to happiness and, woala!

One more clue: It is not a religious answer. Yet, it is so relilgious to some.

It is not a spiritual question. Yet it is so spiritual, to all of us.

Disclaimer: Dear folks, I am just guessing that it is the "key". I claim no intellectual powers, because, quite frankly, I am an old man and my brain is worn out and I don't think deeply anymore (I am not smart anymore, but I once was). However, my answer to the above question is one of the most valuable things my dad ever taught me.

Of course, "momofThree", cited below, has reitterated another great lesson my dad taught me.

2. that happiness is an illusion.

3. constant masturbation... at least this is what I saw the orangutans in the zoo doing... they seemed happy. Maybe that's why they call it Mr. Happy?

4. asking only questions to which you think you already know the answer.

5. knowing how much prozac to take.

To play chess?

Love? (seems too easy)

Tolerance?

Heck, I'm still upset about the fact that you're not sweet on ME so I had better get that key from you soon, Uncle Wayne. ♥

Loving and obeying God and then loving every person you ever meet in your life including those who don't love you.

That kind of love will bring actions in your life that will bless others richly and your life will be filled with godliness and with goodness. That kind of love only comes from God and is called Agape - Unconditional love.

The key to happiness is freedom (i.e. freedom from want, from envy, from inability to express one's self, from trying to live up to people's expectations, from the monotony of everyday life, from any form of slavery or stronghold etc, etc, etc)
