I was working a Friday, I was on my way to court on the LI Expressway when I saw a car with his wheel tilted side ways. I signaled him to stop and questioned him outside the car by the drivers door .

As we spoke a car came off the road and hit us both. The driver had fallen to sleep and hit us with a glancing blow at 70 miles per hour.

I had a compound fracture of my right leg where the bone came out of my caff and stuck me behind my knee severing an artery. While the other victim was face down 15 feet down the road with a 2 foot piece of chrome sticking out of his butt.
To make long story short, he was hospitalized for 2 weeks while I was in for 33 days.

Days like that you don't forget.

well im not a cop yet but my brother-in-law always tells us a story where he pulled up to a house because this guy was high and banging on the windows and licking the windows and playing in the kiddy pool and just totally out of it. well when they got him in the back of the car. the guy started licking the glass in the car. my brother-in-law said it reminded him of the movie Super Troopers. the next time he saw the guy the guy had no idea that he did that because he only remembered starting to get high

I remember mine every once in awhile, waking up in a sweat. The night I was almost shot in the face at a distance of about 2 ft, with my own weapon.........seeing the inside of a muzzle flash leaves an impression.
