I have had diarrhea twice today. I'm not really sure why...I'm guessing either it's the espresso I had this morning (it was made with artificial sugar, which has not agreed with me before) or maybe a stomach bug? My mom said she felt sick to her stomach yesterday and thought she had a bug but she didn't vomit or have diarrhea or anything. I was careful to stay out of close contact with her so I wouldn't be exposed. She feels fine today..but now l have had those bouts and am wondering what it could be. Could the espresso caused it or did I catch what she had and show different symptoms?

It hasn't been very bad. The two times have been about three hours apart and I have had minimal stomach cramping, etc. with it. I have to be careful with certain foods and drinks because I have a sensitive stomach. But the fact that my mom didn't feel well yesterday has got me worried.

How bad has it been? If it's not that bad, it could easily have been the espresso. Count yourself lucky. There is a nasty bug going aroud, and if you caught it, you would be trapped in your bathroom right now, sick as a dog.

it could either be a part of a minute stomach virus or severe dehydration. Either will trigger diarrhea and/or vomiting. You might have caught a virus from your mother and gotten different symptoms because diseases affect everyone in different ways. For example, if a person with AIDS were to get a flu, it could be potentially very deadly, but if a person with a strong immune system got the same disease, they could be better in a few days. Try to drink lots of fluids with high levels of electrolytes like Gatorade and juices. Do not drink or eat very sugary things because this could make your symptoms worse.

I think you ate some bad food/drink. That has happened to me once before, except mine unfortunately was ALSO uncontrollable, and I crapped my pants. No lie.

The culprit was food posioning and it was gone in a couple of days.

If you see blood or have massive pain, I would see a doc though. I had neither of those.

Good luck...poor thing!

Artificial sugars could have given you that. i never take it.
Also the espresso, at empty stomach, sometimes gives that.

This usually happens when your espresso isn't fresh perked. I hated my wife's coffee until she got another brand.
