This is what she's thinking...
So I've decided that I am going to get a new tattoo, or rather add to the cross I have on my back. I want to get something to represent my relationship and what we have had to overcome for the 2 years that we will have been apart (by the time he makes it home from Iraq) however, I have no ideas on how to represent that. I feel like I have such a great idea and no pictures in my head. Something along the lines of strength, courage, hardships, faithfulness, ect. that this deployment has brought upon us. Any ideas from anyone? or better yet, send me drawings :) I don't want anything tacky....such as my husbands name across my back or something.....that will never happen, its still gotta look nice....help me out here people.

Like in the Bible at the end of the journey of Noah's Ark, you could get a dove with a twig or leaf in its mouth. It can symbolize a difficult journey and the hope in the end, with the positive outcome, ie, your husband returns to you, just as the bird returns. Best of luck, my husband was gone for two years as well, and it was one of the hardest times in my life. Yet, you will make it through with flying colors!

She could get a flag of us with a plane going away.., or she could get a eye with a tear of a flag within the tear.. or she could get a girl in a cage with her hand touching Iraq.... depends on what she is feeling

Add a flag flying behind the cross with your husband's name under the cross.

A partial idea could be a nautical star. It's something saliors got to signify that they would always make it back home. You could get it as a 'guide', for him to always be able to find his way back home to you...

go to your local tattoo shop and look at the flash (pics of tats) they have there you can either find one you really like there or at least use the pics you do see to inspire an origional design

how about an eagle witht he american flag behind it with the eagle looking out into the distance as if waiting for something.
