If you are working in an assignment but something better suited for you comes along, would they let you change to that new assignment?

The V.P. of my company claims that he would never try to hold me back should a better opportunity comes along. This new job is what he knows I went to school for, not what I'm doing now. I am definitely going to stand up for myself. He may not want to re-assign me, but I have to do what is best for me.

It varies depending on the type of agency you are going through, your skills, the availability of others, etc. but, generally agencies try to avoid having people change assignments in the middle. It is not good for them to promise you'll work for a company for a specified time and then pull you out in the middle of the assignment. They also try to place people who are not working ahead of those who are. However, if they know the job you have now is something you only took until something specifice came along or you are having problems at your current place or some other special circumstance comes up, they will probably try to work with you.

Usually. Call the temp service and ask to keep you in mind for another position. But stay at the one you are at just in case.
