beeper And get called in though your not working that day? like for say do you always have to be in that area? if something happens?

If your contacted, your on duty. Doesnt mater if your off or on vacation or what ever, its part of the job. But it whould have to be a pretty serious item for the dept to do this.

I am not sure that they even make beepers any longer do they?? Cell phones,.

But yes officers can always be called back in, and a officer cannot even get off duty untill enough officers are there for the next shift

A lot of police officers are pretty much always on call. It is common to be held over after a shift, or called in early. In the event something big happens they can call out the troops.

Just part of that kind of job. We aren't "done for the day" until we are actually out of there. It can be a minute til and you think you are going to go home and be with your family and bam.

I was on call 24/7 one week out of every month but I wasn't regular patrol. Smaller towns may have officers that do that simply due to the lack of officers.
