In a UA, appearance, pH, specific gravity, proteins, glucose, nitrite, ketones and many disorders can be detected(such as diabetes). The presence of red blood cells can indicate glomerular damage(among other things). A + nitrite test may be indicative of a bacterial infection. Ketones may be indicative of starvation(ie.. diabetes mellitus). Excess glucose in urine is indicative of diabetes.

pH (the acidity or alkanity of the urine), leukoterase, and nitrites which indicate a bacterial infection, odor which may indicate an infection or that you like stinky food, white blood cells, red blood cells, protein, glucose. You can find if you have an infection because of the nitrites and the white blood cells, if you have protein or red blood cells, you probably have renal problems and if you have casts then you may have a problem with stones. Last, if you have glucose, then you probably have diabetes but they test you again for that.

It all depends on what they're testing for. Depending on the reason you're taking it and who's administering it you should have a fairly good idea what they're testing for and that they can detect it.
