I moved to the bay area California a few months ago from Las Vegas. I lived in Vegas for pretty much my whole life about 16 years, and i graduated high school there and all my friends are there. Now that I moved in with my dad, i only know his girlfriends relatives, and a couple friends from school. I went to school for a semester in Berkeley and am now working par time at a dining place on the cal berkeley campus. I get kind of bored sometimes because i dont have friends, and sadly sometimes i get jealous because my dad does stuff with his girlfriend, life in the same apartment, and sometimes he goes there and spends the night, and doesn't tell me he is, or he tells me hell be back soon, and ends up being gone for hours, or the whole night, usually with his girlfriend. I take that as just like no respect you know I think it would help if i met a girl, because then that emptiness won't linger in my body. Sorry about the story, but i need some suggestions on meeting new people.

I can relate I move around a lot. What i've found helpful is taking a class, volunteering with an organization, joining a club or group. Use the internet to see if there are any social groups out there like Jaycees or something. You can check out Yahoo Groups or just search on the internet and see if anything comes up. Don't be afraid to just do things you enjoy on your own, like a concert or museum or something. Then strike up a conversation with someone there. If you're looking for a girlfriend I'd recommend online dating like eharmony. Good luck!

Check the Berkley campus bulletin board for social activities.
Look for meetings involving the things you like to do ...
This way, you will meet people with the same interests who are in your age group.
You can also check out the local newspaper to see what activities are happening in the area. You don't need to be with a group of people to have fun, but you can meet new people and make new friends!
GOOD LUCK!

hi! i know what you feel right now coz i'm feeling the same way too. I just came here in Canada a month ago(I came from Philippines) and its hard to adopt other's culture especially when you have no one to turn to. What I did is find a job(well, that's what you did too) and I concentrate with it and have a good time with my co-workers. try to find some friends, and be honest and good to them so that they will do the same to you. Having a girlfriend will help too. but choose the one that will complete your life and don't play with girls...maybe the one you're playing with will be the one that is right for you and realized later when she's gone. Believe me Karma works! HAve a good day! Goodluck!

Aww! I'd be your friend if I lived near you, hun. :)

Anyway, you should talk to your father about this. It's very irresponsible to not inform your son if you plan on spending the night away from home.

As for meeting new friends or girls, just be more bold and out spoken. Invite someone over or out to eat, why would they refuse? I wish you all the luck, moving can be tough. I'm sure you'll adjust in time, just be patient and smile your gorgeous smile!

Just get out there, dont be afraid to sit down with someone and start a conversation. Go hang out at the campus hot spots....that should do the trick!

I think U should find a new Hobby such as tennis team or some sort of club which will give u a direct acquaintance with people who must have the same interests as you.

You need to get out and meet people. Church, clubs, fairs, etc.
