honestly, as much as this sucks I dont think your friend should date his ex's gf. Girls are difficult. Its pretty much an unwritten rule that you don't date your friend's old boyfriends. It depends on the person though. I feel that if you really like the person, could actually see this relationship working out for a long time then i would say don't wait. But if this relationship is only goin to be a fling, then its not worth ruining the friendships, because more than likely a friendship will get hurt.
Its a hard situation. Your friend really should figure out how much he likes this other girl and how much she likes him and if their relationship is goin to be something serious. If its not then i would say he shouldn't date her.
Good Luck.

Well first off the fact that you and he are even considering this shows how disrespectful you both are. Why waste a year of someone's time if you don't care about them which is obvious. If the best friend likes him too, she's not her best friend. If he dates her can he really handle if they stay friends? It would be like not breaking up with her at all. They would always be talking behind his back, and it's very unstable. The friend may wake up one morning and decide that it was wrong to date him and his feelings would definitely be hurt. So it's up to him but it's ridiculous for him to even ask this.

How long should he wait? Forever.
Dating a close friend or family member of your ex is beyond tacky and should only be considered when living in a trailer park with hopes of making it on the Jerry Springer Show.
Seriously, it's a no-no among normal people.

He should wait until his ex finds another guy (that she actually likes.) If he ask her out now I guarentee that it will end in alot of drama and he won't get the girl. He shouldn' be selfish and ruin his ex-girlfriend's friendship with her best friend

thats just a bad idea because if they do go out the old gf would not be happy with her and things will probably never be the same, but the new girl should definetly talk to her friend first.

Date someone else in between for 3-4 weeks. That makes it seem like he didn't drop the one for the other.

Stay away! Stay far far far away from the ex's friend for at least five years or until she's no longer friends with your ex, whichever comes first.

Depends on situation, if he broke it off with ex because she was cheating or they know they wouldn't make it as a cpl. then then why wait, but if he dumped x to be with her friend then he needs to grow up before dating anyone.
