NASCAR didn't actually outlaw Dodge. They banned the wings on the Daytona Charger & Superbird, and they banned the Hemi. This was because, yes, Chrysler was winning a majority of the races.
Dodge was in the sport well after these things happened. Fact of the matter is that Dodge & Plymouth just stopped building production cars that were suitable for NASCAR (mid/full-size 2-door coupe, rear-wheel drive).
The last Chrysler product on the NASCAR circuit was, oddly, an '83 Chrysler Imperial. Can't remember who the driver was, but the cars ran until '86.
Funnier yet, they lifted the rule about rear-wheel drive production cars so GM could base their racers on the front drive W-body platform in '88,(after discontinuing the old B-bodies) and the ruling on 2-door coupes so Ford could run the Taurus body after the T-bird was killed off. This, of course, left Chrysler wide-open for their return with the Intrepid.
BTW.... the wings on the Charger Daytonas & Superbirds were as tall as they were so that the trunk could be opened beneath it. The scoops on the front fenders weren't for air, they were actually for tire clearance.

That sounds about right. There are several American cars that are eligible to run in NASCAR(Cadillac,Lincoln Mercury). These cars did compete in the 50's and 60's.Within the last 5 or 10 years several major teams have built and tested Lincoln and Mercury.Though made by Ford motor company these cars had mor stability that the Ford Tauris did at the time of testing.NASCAR would not approve templates so these cars were scrapped.
Personnally you build it to NASCAR specs you run it.
That's all I have to say about that.

Like everyone else, Dodge / Chrysler went through a recession and even a banruptcy. There involvement in NASCAR for years was minimal. Now, they are back in full swing.... as Daimler Chrysler. When do we look for the first 650 SLVK Benz cup car?

When didi nascar outlaw dodge?
the only reason dodge ever won that many races is beacuase they had a flippin 5 ft tall wing on the back.
