i have a rockford fosgate 800a2 old school amp and i was wondering if you need the rem hooked up to use it?

If you want to turn it ON.

Run a fused (1 amp) 18 AWG wire from the ACC in the ignition to a switch then to the REM on the amp.

This allows for full control and you never have to worry about forgetting to turn the amp off.

I recommend it. Its like an automatic switch that tells the amp when to turn on and off. There is also another option connect the battery to the 12v and the remote with a switch. But make sure to turn it off.

as long as i have been doing car stereo's,yes you have to hook up the remote wire thats where the amp get the signal to come on

yes you can run it to Ur stereo so when ur stereo comes on your amp will come on if not it will stay on all time and either burn up ur amp or kill your battery
