q about my dog's meds?

my dog is supposed to take doxycctive or doxycotive or something close to that. what are they for? he just got fixed ans the meds are from that but i don't know if its anti-biotics or what.

Is it deracoxib? If so..which would make sense. It's an NSAID. Non-steroidal anti inflamitory drug for pain.

doxycycline is an antibiotic, which is not usually given for neuters unless there is a problem..

However that would be more for something like a bacterial infections

Hi - call your vet immediately and ask them specifically what the meds are for and how often to take them - with or without food and any other instructions - be persistent - My experience lately is that vets are hurrying you through the process and doesn't communicate to you or the techs that check you out what EXACTLY you are supposed to do. I was giving a med to my cat for 4 days that was supposed to go in the fridge and no one told me and my cat got sick and had to be on meds for 2 months. good luck.

I don't understand if you got this medicine from the vet.. why didn't you ask him, if you didn't get it from a vet then I wouldn't give it to my dog. I am just trying to understand why when the vet handed this meds to you....you didn't ask him this question and come in here to ask knowing hared telling what kind of answer you are going to get.

Sounds like pain med -make sure theychecked his liver before you give pain meds as they can wreak havoc on the liver. I lost my minature doxie to pain meds. Good Luck -k-

Do you mean Doxycycline? It is an antibiotic, and it's given to prevent him from getting an infection.
