It depends on what type of jewelry you keep in it. Mine never had anything other than a 14g ring, and the scar it left isn't visable unless I make a point to show it to someone. (No one I've ever met has looked at me and gone "Did you have your lip pierced!?") It's not a noticable scar.
Don't move up in guages and be mindful of how irritated it gets, if it's constantly tearing or irritated, etc, then the scar might be worse when you take it out.

Even if the scar is more noticable than mine, make-up should cover it with no problems at all. If you take proper care of the piercing, though, you shouldn't have any problems. =)

Good luck with it.

I have one now and the hole is not that big but my best friend got hers done and ended up taking it out and her lip had a little dot/bump but you had to look for it but now that she has had it out for almost a year it is hardly there. also if you are worried about teeth stuff like i was you can get what is called a vertical lip piercing and it doesn't actually go inside of your mouth. If you are worried about that though you can ask your piercer to explain all the details of how it works.

I had my Labret peirced, It left a scar. Not a huge scar but I can see it. Occasionally others ask me what happened to my lip. But I also had chicken pox when I was a kid and I have the same size scars,so I guess it's not to bad. Make up doesn't cover it up.

It doesn't leave a very big scar, but it is bad for your teeth. The metal stud rubs the enamel off of your teeth and that isn't good.

So small scar and bad teeth. get something else pierced, like maybe your septum.

Depending on the gauge of piercing that you get. If you stay small like a 16 gauge it wont leave a scar at all. but if you go bigger like a 10 gauge it will. But it almost isnt noticable even then. but stay small, if you dont want the scar!

Already, there are over 500 strains of bacteria that live in the human mouth. So, why do you want to go and add more?

You may not know this, but your lip is a part of your mouth. Your lip can cause your teeth to decay and fall out. In piercing your lip, you open up the area to thrush, mononucleosis, gingivitis and bad breath. Not to mention STDs and AIDS.

Besides, who do you think will want to kiss you with that thing hanging from your lip? Don't do it! You're such a beautiful young lady without it.

The scar would be the least of your worries if you develope infections from the bacteria in your mouth .

there might not even be scar but if there is it will be really small so dont worry so much.and you could always use a hit of makeup to cover it up.

hole for life.

take it from someone who has walked your path, DON'T GET IT, get NOTHING that is abnormal.

I had a simple dangling cross when I was 18 (1987), had it for barely 6 months, never put anything back in again.

Since then, every job interview has asked me about it. Still wear one? We frown on that, blah blah. Had to explain my stupidity for being young to each person, at each job.

Have had people on the street make comments, gf's I've dated, family, you name it.

Take it from 20 yrs of experience.....do nothing to your body that shows, period. No tats, no piercings, nothing unless it is hidden by underwear only.

Business world is HIGHLY against any of this stuff and will do anything not to hire these people. This I know as well as I was a Human Resource Mgr for awhile and I was told by my boss, do not allow in, not corporate "image".

I have wanted a Native Indian tat that takes up my entire left ankle and foot. But even have held off on that due to the response of the other. But since I am an adult now and can wear socks with tennis shoes w/o being uncool, I am closer now to actually having it done.

At 18 you will do things that you won't think twice about......but you will never stop thinking about them for the rest of your life as an adult. Glad you stopped and thought first on this.....ALWAYS do that on all at this age, till least 22 and your adult life will be much nicer. Just remember, you make the very bed you lay in....and you lay in it for life.
