Why doesn't the Marine Corps help their Marines with mental illness (non combat related)?

Is there anyone who has had a family member discharged with a mental illness that was not treated properly by the Marine Corps? Daughter was discharged with less than honorable, and documentation showed that she was suffering from depression and was not followed by any mental health personnel. This situation lead to other situation to lead up to her discharge. I have had three professionals tell me she should have received a medical discharge.

One reason could be if she is diagnosed with a mental illness such as depression and has to take medication she can't carry or use a weapon and hence being useless to the military. so that might be one reason they were reluctant to treat condition as mental illness.

The most likely reason your daughter didn't recieve follow up care is because she was no longer in the active duty military. Any military medical care she would recieve now would be VA. Sadly the care of our veterans has been completely unacceptable. I pray this will change now that the scandal has come out with Walter Reed. It is a disgrace! Get as much documented from the professionals as you can. It's not too late to get things done for your daughter. Just so you know, the military (not just the Marines) has let a lot of our troops and their families down. Contact your local government to start. There really are people out there who will help.
