it depends on the teacher, but if she tells the teacher she doesn't want her parents to know, i think the teacher will keep her secret... at first at least. until the teacher thinks things are getting too serious and the girl is in danger, at which point the teacher SHOULD tell the parents because it's for her own good. do you want your friend to die because she doesn't want her parents to know?

I think the teachers do tell the parents. I had an eating disorder that lasted from age 11 until just about 20. I was bulimic for that many years. Now I puke only like three times a year. So I have acid reflux yay! Sensitive teeth , alright! So yes you should talk to her and remember anorexia and bulima can lead to imbalanced electrolytes and can cause death or coma. That;s the reason why I stopped, but not completely. I just try to always remember that when I stick my finger in my mouth. So please help your friend. You ned to help there and be there for her.

She needs to eat, and if telling someone is going to make her eat than thats what you should do. Eating disorders are a very serious illness. People do die from them. It is not something to fool around with. The only reason your friend probably eats dinner is so that her parents think that she is eating all day. You NEED to help her if she isn't going to help herself.

I would first approach your friend about this. It could be that you aren't seeing the whole story, etc., or else hearing your concern might prompt her to tell her parents/get help herself. If talking to her doesn't work, or works for awhile but then you see her slip, talk to her parents or a teacher ASAP. Schools in most (if not all) states are required to report harmful behavior to parents.

Her parents need to know. What your friend is doing is very self destructive and it will ruin her health and other aspects of her life if she continues to do this. As hard as it may be for her parents to be told she has an eating disorder, they must know in order to get her the proper help so this does not continue to be a problem.
I wish I would've gotten help sooner for my eating disorder. They are very addictive and dangerous. Please do not be afraid to tell someone about your friend.

It sounds to me like she is suffering from anorexia. She needs immediate medical and psychological attention. I would tell her parents or a school consuler. Eating disorders are not to be messed with. She is lucky to have a friend like you that cares enough about her to get her some help.

I think they will contact her parents and they will most likely keep it confidential- if asked how they know, they will probably just say a student/teacher has brought it to our attention... Good for you for trying to help your friend. It must be extremely difficult.

are you stupid???????? her parents NEED to know she has a problem. she could die. if you don't tell the teacher or her parents, herr blood will be on your hands. even if she doesnt die, all her hair could fall out. which could cause even WORSE problems for her. do you want that? you could tell on her anonymously so she won't know that YOU did it, so ur friendship won't end, but even if it ended, wouldn't that be better than you having to go to her funeral? then you would be blaming yourself for her death cause you'll be saying "i should have told somebody. i should have got her help", but it will be too late.

i think that's serious stuff, and her parents should know. either someone informs them now, or they'll one day discover when she has already collapsed or something. worse, her parents might think that she's taking drugs, because of her excessive weight loss. you really should inform someone older, that way you can help her.
