because we know what boy friends want! all dad's were bf's once so we know.just be glad he loves you,and is not a dead beat.

You have no idea how very lucky you are to have a dad that gives a rats@ss about!
Sweety I was where you are only I didn't have a dad...nor anyone else that cared enough to kick me in the butt to keep me from making some very bad choices. How I wish I had!
I left home at 14....I was abused and left with a childbefore I was 18, ended up making bad choice after bad choice.
Yeah it really sucks to think that your whole world will fall apart because you dont have Mr.20 year old in your life the way you want....yeah it sucks that you have not learned enough in 17 years to know that abuse is abuse no matter how sweet they are aftwards.
What dosen't suck is that you have got a dad that cares enough to let you hate on him and probably treat him like the devils own because you cant have your way.
You need to get off you self imposed pedastle and go hug your dad...ask him to take you to a womens shelter...talk with the ladies there about how abuse escalates and how many women end up dead because they loved the WRONG guy!

Because we were young men once, and we know what young men have on their minds (hint: three letters, begins with "s," ends with "x" -- like to buy a vowel?). We also know how being sexually active usually works for young people; a relatively few girls having sex with a larger number of guys. Your dad really does have your best interests at heart -- he doesn't want you to become one of the few girls who gets passed around among a group of guys. Things even out a bit during the college years when more girls become sexually active, but until that point it's easy for a girl to get a reputatiion for being "easy."
Sure, there are those girls who only have sex with their boyfriends, but how long do most of those relationships last? All your dad wants is for you to be safe and happy, and he knows better than you do how many things there are in the world that can hurt you (emotionally and otherwise). So cut dad some slack -- he may be annoying, but he only does it because he doesn't want to see you get hurt.

Because they are men and have been your b/f age and frame of mind and also have known all kinds of boys and human nature doesnt change.Your dad knows what most guys want, yes its sex.YOURS to be more specific.Your dad knows girls like to live in a romantic fantasy world, and they get caught up in their dreams and emotions and dont base their decisions on common sense and reality most of the time, but on wishfull thinking and emotion.He also knows when you are "in love" you are easily manipulated and vulnerable to being "used" especially in the sex dept.Your dad doesnt want to hear"Im pregnant daddy and he dumped me when I told him" .Especially when you arent able to work, support yourself, no car no job etc.He wants you to be able to do that and be married BEFORE having kids.He is looking out for you because he loves you.

Well your dad could be over protective because when you get a boy friend it kind of shows your growing up and he doesnt want you to. (unless your in elementry or grade 7 or something)
Also your dad was a young boy once and he knows how they act.
He probably just doesnt want you to do anything you umm... might regret in the future....

You'll find out when you get a little older. Most Dad's have experienced life and they know what boys want. They are only trying to protect their daughters from all kinds of bad things out there these days; for example, pregnancy, STD's,
rape, molestation, car accidents and many other terrible things that can happen to young girls. Please listen to your Dad and try to imagine yourself in his place worrying about you.

because he loves you and doesnt want you to get hurt. he also knows that a bf means a potential for sex, and he wants you to stay a virgin untill your 30! but really he would probably want you to stay a virgin at least till your out of high school. less chance to mess up your life, less chance to get hung up with some guy and live his life and not yours.

Because he know's what he did with his girlfriends when he was your age! Just kidding! I agree withe everyone else here, You are lucky to have a dad who cares... parents know what's best for their kids.
