Every year on Memorial Day I've given my dad, a veteran, the same thing--a bear hug and muttered thanks for the liberties and securities I too often take for granted which he fought and suffered a hell beyond my imagining to preserve.
He dislikes material gifts generally. I feel so inadequate.

Anyone know of something special and far out of the ordinary I could give him?

Thanks.

Give of your heart, give him the memories of love and tell him I said "Thank you" too.

Find out what his squad # was for whatever branch he served in. You can get hats that have that on it. My dad found one and was shocked they even made it.

Or you can get a shirt that reads "Proud to Have Served in the (insert branch here)." My dad has one of those for the Marines and is always complimented on it.
