Whoa there on the brushing. All I ever heard was putting a dot of toothpaste on. You don't want to go brushing and scraping up already irritated skin. Putting a dot of toothpaste on it supposedly has the same properties as a mask, but... it's toothpaste. I've tried it, and sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. I have never tried brushing it though, just because of the sensitive nature of the skin anyway.
If you put just a dot of toothpaste on the pimple, it kind of tingles... and then you forget about it. And then you can just wash it off later.
Much better to invest in a drying clay masque though, they're better at the job than toothpaste is.
I heard on the radio that the toothpaste is a quick-"fix" in that it doesn't really fix, it just helps, and is NOT to be meant as a replacement for the proper facial products.
If you're not into products, honey I would just recommend frequent face washing to lose the oil so that you don't end up with pimples. That and drink some water, stay hydrated, and also helps to flush out dietary trash you may have been consuming.
Good luck if you do try the brushing. I would imagine it to be rather painful and would personally advise against it.
But... your choice.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Take it easy,
miR :)

Yes. It DOES dry up the pimple, but skin dermatologists highly disrecommend it, because it (the toothpaste) dries out the entire skin area that it covers. However, I've tried it a couple times when I had emergencies the minute before I went to bed, and it sort of worked. Not much effect; it improved SLIGHTLY (and by that I mean REALLY slightly), but it wasn't much better in the morning. Plus the skin area around it felt taut. All I can say is, don't try it if you're not willing to risk your skin.
Hope I helped!
(A good solution, by the way, is one of those Clearasil things that guarantee removing the zits in like 12 hours, or something.)
Oh--and you don't brush the area with toothpaste. You just get a tiny sized dab of the toothpaste and rub it into the zit. Brushing would probably irritate the pimple and make it even bigger/redder.

it dries up your zits and pimples but dont BRUSH your zits, just put on the toothpaste and let it on over night or at least 4 hours.... anyways, it can also damage the skin surrounding it, so dont do it so, often and wash ur face after putting it on or the next morning if u decide 2 leave i t overnight. u should also try some kind of cream 2 keep ur face moist and not dry cuz ull feel soooo uncomfortable... anyways, hope this helps and good luck!

Yes it can help remove pimples. It may dry the skin around the pimple out a little, but Crest toothpaste is supposed to work better.

Putting toothpaste on breakouts is an old remedy. I don't know if it works, I've never tried it, but I've heard it works OK. But you're not supposed to brush, just apply the toothpaste. Brushing would likely make things worse.

Use vaseoline intensive care with ALOE(medicine plant). Put on your face and an extra amount on pimples twice a day and let it soak in. Do this twice a day for 3 weeks. Then twice a week after that. You can pick it up at Fred Meyer. Its a lotion might try grocery stores dont know.

It helps dry them. but only sometimes works. You'd be better off getting something recomended by a dermatologist.
Does help with the swelling sometimes though...just make sure you're not allergic to anything in that toothpaste.

Yes it helps, but you have to make sure to put it in the middle of the pimple or it will create a ring of dry skin if you spread it in good skin next to it. I recomment putting a dot of vick's vapor rub (it is medicine used for colds & congestions) it has worked for me better.

Yes, but it has to be fluoride free. Fluoride actually can cause breakouts. Use a clay mask instead, like Proactiv's Refining Mask. It looks like toothpaste, but it works much better!
