Don't know exactly what it is you're asking...but the great thing about dogs is that they can be trained to do almost anything if you are patient and reasonable. By the way, you should try to do the training yourself if at all possible, it will help you to build a trusting relationship with your dog. If you need help, there are some excellent books, videos, and even websites that offer tips and guidance. Good luck!

He uses what? Your living room as a potty? You need to take him outside every 2 hours (if he is a puppy) to go potty. Stay out there for 15 - 40 minutes or until he does something. Make sure to praise him when he goes so he knows that he did something good.

If your living room is too precious, why have a dog? Dogs like to dig, chew, break things and can be destructive when they're bored.

Get some plastic covers to put over your furniture so that if he pees on it, you don't get yellow pee stains in it.

I assume you mean using puppy pads for potty training?

It's a bad idea. Puppy pads are 1. disgusting. 2. very confusing when it comes to potty training a dog.

I say...try and keep all potty actions outside of the house.

Get slip covers for the furniture, those should protect it. That, or those plastic covers.
