I'm pregnant with my second child. I have a three year old daughter and kept everything from her just in case. We just found out Monday that we are having a little girl. I have been asked by several people are you going to have a baby shower. I have told them no because I didn't think it was proper to have a baby shower with your second child. I think that it would be great to have one with my second. They all just look at me like I'm stupid. One friend told me I should have a diaper shower and I have considered that. But I was wondering did or do you all know of people who have had baby showers with their second child?

Baby Showers for the Second, Third or Forth Baby
Is a Baby Shower appropriate for these babies? Three answers…..Yes…YES…YES!!
One of the most controversial questions in our society is about the appropriateness of a shower for a second baby (or more).
Many people have lightened up on the issue and are now saying that bringing a new life into the world is worth celebrating and that Every
Baby Deserves a Party! More and more Mom’s are now having showers for babies other than their first. There are also more people getting
married for the second and third time and are starting new families with their significant other.
A second or third shower is very appropriate if the children are spaced far apart or if the baby is of another gender.

In the end, the universal truth is that all babies deserve to be welcomed into the world with a celebration. Whether you call that celebration a
Baby Shower, a Welcoming or Baby Naming, it’s still a celebration of new life.
It's wonderful to hold showers for second and third babies - they deserve special recognition too! Parents may appreciate some new
clothes for the baby, particularly if they are having a different gender child from their other(s).
It is even common these days for the Mother-to-Be to be honored with more than one Baby Shower Party for the same child. This could be
due to an office Party being thrown by co-workers then a family and friends Party being thrown by the best friend.
It is also perfectly acceptable for more than one person to host a Baby Shower, or to have a co-host. It can be fun for a group of friends to
share the responsibilities and excitement of planning and hosting this special event.

Every baby is special, every life is important!

I had a baby shower with my second. My first was also 3. And mine are both girls. My mom actually give me my baby shower. She tried to make it a surprise but she can not keep a secret. I really like the idea of having a diaper shower. If you do not think it is proper have a party after the baby is born. Everyone can come and see your new baby and most of them will bring you something. :)

Don't call it a shower, call it a celebration tea or something similar. It's great for everyone to gather and celebrate the new arrival, but some people find the idea of a second "shower" offensive. I only had one, but a good friend had showers for all three of her boys!

I didn't have one with my second, but at least 50% of the people I know have.

I think a diaper shower sounds like a good idea.

I know a girl who had showers for all three of her kids. It's not just about getting gifts, it's the celebration of a new life coming into the world and we should act accordingly!

baby showers should be ment for every baby if it your first or your fourth. The whole idea is to get the pressure off the mother to be and buy them everything they need for the babys first 6 months.
