I would adopt a puppy from a shelter. Heres some shelters I looked up for you. Just make sure that you are up to the commitment. Also make sure to get the puppy spayed/neutered and put on a monthly deworming preventative.

Petfinder.com will allow you to search by area as well as breed...but be prepared...some of these "adoption" or rescue organizations charge as much as a breeder and the application process can be long and tedious and you may not get the dog you apply for if they don't find your household to be a good "fit." Also, check to see if your town has a local SPCA.
Cost also depends on the breed of dog. Many "toy" breeds are usually very expensive b/c the moms have very few pups per litter - as few as 1 or 2 - and due to their tiny size they have to be constantly monitored throughout the pregnancy - it's a huge expense to the breeder. Good Luck!

go to a shelter because then the puppy will have already been vaccinated and neutered. Getting a free puppy will be more expensive to get all those things done for it.

I was just going to suggest trying the humane society, or if there's a Pet Smart there, they have adoptions for dogs on the weekends, and also if you called around to different vet's offices, they could also send you in the right direction.

attempt a feed furnish, like Farm furnish or a tracter furnish. great livestock places frequently carry the vaccines for persons with working canines. maximum puppy shops do no longer carry them, they inform you to circulate to the vet. The wormer you will prefer to get from the vet in spite of the shown fact that. over the counter wormer in basic terms isn't very effectual. some vets will sell you the wormer with no circulate to in case you are able to discribe the type of worms your canines has. stable good fortune to you and don't problem approximately all the "circulate the the vet in case you like your canines" people. I do my very own photos additionally.

Try craigslist.com.
I got my puppy there for $125. He was 8 weeks old, neutered already and had a micro-chip in his ear.

Consider going to your nearest pet shop or adoption center, and either buy one from there or ask what they would recommend.
