A first season can appear at any age but typically between 6-12 months of age.
l would advise you to let your girl have her first season before getting her spayed to make sure everything is working as it should.
During the spaying operation the dogs whole womb and reproductive organs are removed so she will never again have a season as she has no womb to bleed or produce puppies. Also reduces the risks of certain female related cancers.
Another important reason to allow a girl to have a first season is that you then know where in her cycle she is. A girl should be spayed 3 months after being in season when the blood supply is lowest in the womb to prevent excessive blood loss. A girl could also have a phantom pregnancy after her season and exhibit behavioural signs of having puppies, if she is spayed at this time this behaviour can continue. lf you wait 3 months after season any phantom signs will have passed and are unlikely to come back as she wont have another season.
l've had many girls spayed and never had any problems, so don't worry she will soon be back to the same dog you knew before the surgery. Congratulations for being a responsible dog owner and also thinking of the long-term health of your little girl.

Dogs do not have periods as such. When they are about six to eight months depending on each individual dog they 'come into season' or 'on heat' which lasts about three weeks.
During this time they do have a discharge and for a couple of days they are at their most fertile for breeding.
When a b**ch is spayed the Vet removes the uterus (hysterectomy) and the ovaries (ovariectomy).
Once the b**ch has been spayed she will no longer come into season, won't have a discharge and she cannot have pups.

My friend has a dog which she just got spayed. Its a charles spaniel so different breed but I can tell you what she told me?
The best thing is to let the dog have atleast one season un spayed, so its hormones are working properly and its immune system is ok.
A doggy period is like a human period in that its legnth varies in days just like peoples periods do. The are in no way as heavy as womens periods, infact many owners can miss them, the only reason my friend could tell was she let her dog sleep on her white bed sheets every night....
The legnth of time varies as to when the period starts. With my frinds dog is was 12 months, but I'll bet is varies from breed to breed.
When she gets spayed they remove the womb - from what I understand, so no, she will not get another period. This is why its important to let her experience at least one of them, as once you take out the womb, it halts any hormonal changes. To be healthy a dog needs to have a functioning body, which is possible post spaying, but realisticly you want to give her the best shot at it with a developed body as oppose to an under developed one.

No, she won't have a period after spaying. Dogs come on heat around 6-9 months of age.

Female dogs usually come into their first heat (period) at around six months, but it will vary depending on the individual dog. Dogs usually have two heats each year. Once your dog is spayed, she will never again go into heat.

No, but if she is spayed while she is in heat she will most likely continue having heat like symptoms. During this time she must be kept away from any males as they may still try to breed. This may cause damage to the female. Usually their 1st heat starts at six months.

No she won't come in heat again once you spay her. Spaying her will reduce her chance of getting certain cancers and infections.

Have her spayed, unless you plan on breeding her - which is not a good idea. Dogs don't have periods, they go into estrus. End of sex ed. See a vet and get it done. Happy dog and happy you. Good luck.
