I am not a doctor or medical professional, but I'm sure that testing for infectious diseases is a standard practice before allowing any tissue to be used for transplant. For even a basic blood transfusion, there is a long list of questions about the donor's health, medical history, past practices, etc. In my opinion, that you don't need to be worried about an infection like this.

My guess is that you are more likely to get infected by coworkers or family, and that would probably be limited to the flu or a cold. If you're still worried, ask your doctor to confirm this, or stop in and ask a pharmacist.

It very common. My sister just had back surgery and had cadaver bones put in. I tease her by asking if she's "Back from the Dead now" LOL
