It should work in most places, however it will be on roaming because Sprint and Cingular are the only cell providers in the US Virgin islands. Also, I do know that Verizon will work without roaming in Puerto Rico.

Yes. It will work in St. Thomas...most of the time you will be roaming at 69 cents per minute. Sometimes you can pick up the Verizon wireless network from Puerto Rico if you are on a high enough elevation.

We have verizon and our cell phone worked on the ferry from St Thomas to St John. You have to be careful about roaming charges, sometime your phone picks up a tower in the BVI and the charges can get ugly.
You won't get reception every time, we tried in some spots on St John and we couldn't get a signal. I think sometime the mountains block the signal.

Good Luck

It looks like you will be on 'International' Roaming according to this page, whcih is going to be MORE expensive than just normal roaming.

I would call verizonwireless and get them to confirm the roaming status and the plan.

If they tell you that it is just normal roaming, get them to email you that or send it in a letter so you have confirmation.

Another option, would be to see if you can add an international package to your plan for the time that you will be there.

It does, but you have to pay .69 cents per minute. Roaming charges may apply.
