I'm looking for a Latin phrase that's a bit more specific than "modus operandi". Is there a (preferably common) way to say "method of murder" or "method of death".

So that if the MO is unknown, the state of a corpse can still be likened to the state of another corpse.

Thanks to anyone who answers.

This is how you would say it in Latin, but these are not used as far as I know:

Modus mortis - method of death
Modus homicidii - method of murder

mors mortis f. [death]
homicidium -i n. [murder, homicide]
modus -i m. [a measure, standard of measurement]; Transf., [limit, boundary; rule; manner, mode, way, method]
