As a local I really enjoy the Hollywood Farmers Market on Sunday mornings. There is a HUGE and fabulous second-hand record store on Sunset and Cahuenga called "Amoeba Music" that is a lot fun, and it's right next to the Arclight, a large and newly remodeled luxury theater that used to be the Cinerama Dome back in the day. Just a couple of blocks down from there is a great place to have lunch called The Cat & Fiddle (outdoor eatery). Hollywood & Highland is always a good time and it's fun to check out the Manns Chinese. If you have a car I would plan a drive up the Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu and Point Dume. It's beautiful up there with jagged rocks and big waves, plus all the homes built on the mountains are really beautiful. I would also see if you could get tickets to see a show taping at one of the studios, like Jay Leno at NBC. It takes some time but it's free and fun to talk about later.

We think its fun to hit hollywood and see a movie at Mann's Chinese theater. There is fun shops (sometimes stars) at 3rd street promenade by Santa Monica pier. If you like bizarre street performers, go to Venice beach. There is a drive on CA highway 2 that goes north of pasadena into the mountains... there is a spot up the mountain by a bunch of radio towers where you get a fantastic overlook of the whole city. Go on a clear, smog free day. It is best after a rain, and at night. Seeing the queen mary (old school oceanliner) at long beach is an option. the queen is really only worth it if you then also drive around the coast of the palos verdes area. I also just enjoy driving the coast north out of LA. I love just seeing the coast line whiz by with the windows down. Have you eaten at a Tapas restaurant yet? Have fun!
