I've never heard anything about them having anything to do with cancer. Some people get them, and others don't. Probably having your tonsils removed is the only sure-fire way to get rid of them.

Tonsil stones are not a symtom of cancer. They are the result of decaying food particles and bacteria. However, prior to biopsy tonsilloliths that are large can be mistaken for a tumor on the tonsil. Because of the possibility that this could be a malignancy and not tonsilloliths a doctor should examine you to make this determination.

No, just the way the tonsils are made causes tonsilliths to form in some people. My daughter has them, I don't.
