It probably is a virus (trojan horse)and Norton didn't pick it up. You'll have to get a separate spyware remover like Ad-Aware and run that.

Norton sux dude! Get it off your system and download the free zonealarm. I liked it so much I bought the pro and later got the free upgrade to the suite. Norton takes up too much space and isn't reliable. I think you can find zonealarm at the zonelabs site or just google it. For the error report problem, you can disable it in....let me check, I'll get back to you. *K, got it: [start], [control panel], [system], [advanced], (toward the bottom right) [error reporting]!Then just uncheck the enable box and press [apply]/[ok] and it shouldn't be a bother anymore! Happy Button Pushing!

what you should do about it is to get rid of norton AV! the only program they do well making these days is norton system works, which comes with its own AV, btw. but noton is nothing but trouble. i used to love it, but dropped it in 2001 after it took my $ on a tech call and never resolved THEIR OWN PROBLEM, nothing that i did wrong! i got to the point that i thought they write their own viri, just to get you to have to pay them.
mcafee was great for a while too. then THEY TOO decided to write different code and now they are not even worth stripping off and reinstalling on my wins xp machine anymore. 3x was enough! it takes a lot of time to properly remove a combined personal firewall and AV, plus spamkillers. error messages crop up that when you call MS, they tell you it is related to an AV program
get rid of it. i think you can ask norton to give you a prorated credit for the time you don't use it if it did not come oem.
you want to know what are good AV programs?
1. grisoft AVG (free); and
2. trendmicro house doctor (i do not know if that is free anymore, but they sure kick butt on AV.
both of the above are fantastic. zone alarms did their firewall homework, too: it allowed users to use its firewall free for years (evaluation), then it put it out on the market. that is a great, wonderful firewall!
good luck!
