She keeps comming into heat and then for like a day it seems like she's out of heat and we'll schudele to have her spayed but then the next day she's in heat again! I"m REALLY confussed and i'lm not going to lie i'm not a cat person it belongs to my dad. She keeps meawing and sticking her rear end in the air but then for like a day or so she'll act normal.

Help! When will she be out!

I was told she could not be spayed when during the time she was in heat.

First things first. Make an appointment to have her spayed and take her in. The vet will still be able to do the operation. Just make sure you call different vets in your area. Sometimes, a vet will charge more to have a cat spayed if she's in heat. In fact, my housemate's cat is in heat right now, and she's got an appointment at the vet on Monday to be spayed. The house will be much quieter, that's for sure.

From what you said, she's definitely in heat. But it goes in stages. Sometimes cats will be quiet, and lie around until they hear someone, or until they smell/hear a tomcat outside. And then they start presenting (sticking their butt in the air) and yowling and then you want to rip your ears out. So do your ears a favor and make an appointment for her. The sooner cats are spayed, the less chance there is that they will develop cancer later in life and the world doesn't need anymore strays.

Also, be extra careful about closing and opening doors. When a cat is in heat, the urge to roam is greatly increased, mainly because all the males are outside. Don't underestimate your cat, they are FAST when they want to be. If she gets outside, she's going to get pregnant. As one vet tech said (No lie!) about our cat "Don't let her outside or she's gonna get nailed."

A cat can be spayed while in heat, but the vet may charge a little more. Mine went into her first heat ahead of schedule, she was going cuckoo over her brother, and I found a vet who would spay her quick and for a reasonable price. They didn't even charge extra for her being in heat, though they said they were going to.

I think it is usually around this time of year that they do that. Just schedule to have her spayed and take her on that day, heat or no heat. Or talk to your vet and see what would be best for her.

No matter what, you need to get her spayed before she brings more kittens into the world. Maybe her youth is the reason why she's crazy in heat one day and placid the next.

what?? she's not going in and out of heat. its just that a cat wont be "in the mood" 100% of the time. she tries to find a male, then gets tired, then tries again later. get her spayed. im surprised that she isn't spayed already. i thought they did that at the shelter as a rule.

She's ready. Take her in. They only really come out of heat when they're pregnant or caring for their young. If she's old enough to be in heat, she's old enough to be spayed.

Jesus Pleaseus right above me has the right idea.

The sooner you have her fix, the better off everyone will be. When you spay or neuter a cat, it nomally calms them down.

How old is she ? A cat will do this sometimes or stay in heat for long periods.

she should have been fixed before you got her. but i think you should ask the vet about it. by the way. my cat has never acted normal even after she was spayed. so make sure she just isn't a weirdo like mine.
