I recently got my 1 yr old cat, Nina. When I adopted her I was told she did have a upper respitory infection that had infected one eye, but it went away. I was told she is now healthy. A week after getting her, I noticed her left eye has a white spot on the outter edge. It is mostly visible when she looks to the right. The eye also looks a little teary at times, and she squints a little when in the light. I haven't been able to find anything like this online, but I will be taking her to the vet soon. Has anyone seen this before? Could it maybe be some type of scar tissue from her infection? Thanks!!!

It might be scar tissue, or maybe it is flaring up again. Yeah, it's probably a good idea to have her checked out.
(good for you for adopting)

This is a Herpes infection. I know of three cats who got the same thing one cat owner spent tons of money on eye drops, sauve, tried Lysine mixed in his food (this was suggested by Homepathic) The vet had many more very expensive treatments ahead and the owner finally said enough is enough after they talked to me at the kennel and I suggested it was making the cat so miserable let it be. Then like magic 4 months later they came to the kennel and it was almost gone.
The other owner I gave them the same advice before they spent a fortune and there cats went away too. They do say sometimes it will spread and it can effect their site but the two that I knew it got better on its own. It never went completely away but it became very hard to see.

it sounds like a corneal ulcer to me.

she'll need eye drops if it's not too bad--if it's bad-bad, then the eye might need to be removed.
Yes, take the cat to the vet asap.

How wonderful for Nina to have such a nice home and concerned owner. This needs to be checked out by the vet. You could guess all sorts of terrible things and it could be something benign. Relax.
