in its interpretation of who Mary Magdalene really was? (Interested but uneducated on the subject) ... I liked the book very much and it sparked an interest.

Look at on the back of your copy. In the upper corner on the back cover it says "Fiction". It was never meant to be taken seriously. I enjoy the book and the movie. It's a good story, and Dan Brown is an excellent author. However, that is about as far as it goes.
Now, if you really want to dig deeper into the issues on Mary Magdalene, there are other books about that. There is one about "The Truth of the Da Vinci Code" by Bart Ehrman. Excellent theologian. I have several books of his in my own library. Great author. I'd suggest picking up a book like that that talks a little more about the subject. I'd give you more, but I've not finished my Ehrman book yet. ;-)

The DaVinci code was totally debunked a long time ago. The French (where the story begins) were aware of the submission of false birth records long before the book even came out and were actually laughing at American's fascination with it. The man who submitted the "birth records" came clean and admitted he had made them up. If you want to see the truth you can go to the History Channel web site and look up the Davinci code and how it was proven to be nothing but an interesting read.

The book is fancy. It's speculation interpreted in a novel.
It's possible that Jesus was a man and that he married. It's possible that the early church covered this up.
It's possible, too, that the story as told in the Bible is correct and that He was God.
It's also possible that the Catholics are right and that Jesus never married, Mary was a virgin, and Jesus never had any brothers and sisters.
It's possible that his bones have actually been found.
He lived 2000 years ago and the actual physical evidence of what really went on then is scant or non-existent.
We have only speculation.

We will never know. There is a lot of absolute fiction in the book, but there is also questions which will never be answered.

a) unlike popular fiction there is no evidence in scripture that mary magdelen was the whore Jesus saved from stoning. as a matter of fact one of the few references there are to her in the bible states that she was a woman of property who supported Jesus ministry.
b) there is no bioblical refernce to jesus ever marrying.
c) the Da Vinci code is fiction. The bible is not, therefore I trust the bible, which has , by the way, outsold the davinci code by millions.

It is fiction. Even the author has admitted this fact. He borrowed from historical people and invented the story.
