Well, for one, you cannot say the "F" word on primetime tv. That is still censored. Secondly, conservative Christians get angry over shows like Charmed and Buffy because it shows things of witchcraft and other occult things that frighten them to no end. When peopler respond to them, "If you don't like it, don't watch it." They get angry and say that it is the principle and no one should even be ABLE to watch those things.
Some people think the EXACT same thing of the word God being said on tv. Also, I don't know where you get your information. But, there are always stories of such and such trying to censor God on TV, and most of the time they end up being false. There are so many emails running around like that it's just getting a little nutty lately. People want something to argue about. Wether it's a show they dislike or one they like that someone else hates, someone is going to argue about it.
Also, in the grand scheme of things, if this is actual based on fact, which I don't know if it is or not, would it really damage your faith to not have a Veggie Tales TV show? There are movies. There are books, and many other things for kids out there to learn about God. They never became shows. Veggie Tales is becoming less about God and more about cute little characters. It shouldn't be up to a show to tell someone about God. It should be up to the church and the parents.

Forget any implications; I just don't understand the business reasoning behind this. Presumably NBC wants to make money (no network would sign on a show that they think would bomb and never get viewers), but I would think that Veggie Tales would continue to appeal to the same audience it has always been targeted for: Christians. Haven't shows like the "700 Club" been on network TV too?
I can understand them wanting to edit the series in hopes of reaching a broader audience, but if that's the case, why not just pick up a secular kid's show instead and save the editing frustration?

It does offend me and I don't watch it or allow my kids to watch it. No big deal, I don't think it should be banned, nothing should ever be banned. NBC is geeking out because people like me won't watch that station anymore because they have the image of being a Christian station. I believe that they are or they wouldn't have picked up Veggie Tales. So we don't watch it. There isn't anything on anyway. They are afraid of losing sponsors. Maybe they will, maybe they won't, doesn't matter really, my boys only watch PBS kids programming, Discovery Channel and occasionally the Disney Channel Playhouse Disney preschool programming.

I hardly ever watch T.V. but when I do, I look at channels like, History, A&E, Discovery..... sometimes when surfing, and I hit play boy or a good movie with too much obsenity, it offends me, but I have full control over my television set, so I keep on going. But it is high time that Christians have more owned channels besides TBN, the Word Network, Day Star. They should by now have a 24/7 channel or two for kids cartoon and children shows.

I believe it is rather sad and silly.
Parents have every right to control their child's watching already. If you put it in a Christian channel, people know where you're coming from and like all other positive/negative things in the world, your child will eventually know about it anyway.
And so far, most shows that talk about God reverentially have a positive effect. Touched By An Angel changed people's lives for the better. That show has brought torn families together, given many depressed people hope and has shown many who are unloved what love is, all while being non-offensive and non-judgmental in their view of people (That last bit was mentioned by Phylicia Rashad, not me). In fact, many people thanked the stars and guest stars of the show just for playing their part. What possible NEGATIVE effect could any show that talks about God without pushing it down people's throats have?

I am an atheist and even I disagree with it. I am trying to teach my children about different religions and cultures, this is a great kids show for just that thing. It gives them a chance to learn, because even if a person isn't religious they should still learn about religion and understand why people hold different beliefs. Plus it is true, if you don't like it, turn the channel.

I would have thought that one of the releigous networks would have aired that show. Isn't the whole point of veggitales to promote religious ideas? Makes it hard to do that if you remove the references to God, doesn't it? I'm not even a christian and I think the idea of making that sort of change is ridiculous, but then I'm so far beyond tired of all the PC crap that it isn't even funny.

NBC is a private entity, and therefore can do as they wish. If you don't like it, you can change the channel as well.
They are trying to appeal to everyone in the name of the $$. That is why it is a business. It is the same as any other show. There are many new shows that come on that I like. But, if the rest of the country doesn't like them, they get cancelled. I can't stand American Idol or Survivor, but guess what. Most people like it, therefore the remain on.
It's called $$.

It sounds like a move made by Veggie Tales to retain their market share in the time slot they currently have. I think they're more worried about viewership and advertising revenue.
If you banned shows that mentioned the Christian deity, then you can say good bye to South Park, 700 Club, Davey and Goliath, etc...

No, because younger children won't understand that it speaks of God and it may offend the parents.
Its as if there was a cartoon the preached the Qur'an, would Christian parents want their children to watch the show?
