My car was stuck in the street in two feet snow and I couldnt get it out so I came back to my home instead of parking in the driveway (which is anyway slushy and impossible to park).
I got a 50$ ticket for "Snow Emergency Zone" ! FREAK ! now thats real nasty. Its really not fair. I know what they say about law "If it makes sense it aint the law" but this was totally bad. Is there anyway I can contest it ? or SHOULD I contest it ?

"Are you unaware that it snows in the winter? Unaware of the existance of weather predictions? Was the area not signed."
1)I am aware it snows in winter but this much snow was unexpected. I am new to CT
2)It was already around a feet of snow when i reached home from office at 7 pm. The street is uphill and any more movement UP towards my home was impossible
3)The area is "NOT" signed. In NJ where I stayed the streets were explicitly signed "NO Parking when streets are
snow covered" but NONE here. Nothing on the whole street.

If the street is designated as a snow emergency route and your town has declared a snow emergency, then all cars must be off that street. It doesn't matter how difficult it is to get the car off the street, how much snow,or even if the car runs.It must be off the street otherwise you could get a ticket or towed. My town tows your car if you are parked on a snow emergency route. It won't do you any good to contest it.

You broke the law, you pay.

I think you should pay the $50. Your time and energy is probably worth more doing something more meaningful. It sounds like a legitimate ticket although the circumstances sound unfortunate. Good luck whatever you decide.

you could try. just go to the judge and explain your case. there should be a option on the ticket somewhere stating that you want to request a trial. you might have to pay court costs anyway though which is like $50.00. but if you win they could waive it.

Pay the 50.00 and move on......If you fight it they will charge more court cost and still say it was in a "snow emergency zone"

I would contest it..any normal moron would have known why your vehicle was where it was at the time...and to add to it I would put an article in your local newspaper about it. I can't stand cops who do things just for the fun of it, and a lot of them do it.

Go ahead and try. I know people who have done it and they didn't have to pay.
