Because the book of Revelation mentions the moon turning red. You can't see the color red if you have glasses that only filter green. So if God gave us all a free pair of green sunglasses, we couldn't see the apocalypse coming.
Then again, it wouldn't be much of an apocalypse if we DID see it coming, so yeah...what's up with that? Where are my green glasses, damnit?
